About

Short Bio

After my art education, I worked in advertising and design until I made the leap into being a full-time painter in 1992.

Statement

Nature has always been an irresistible inspiration for me.  My reference material comes from the thousands of photos I've taken while visiting natural settings and having that experience to fall back on while I'm painting.  I edit them, sometimes using tiny parts, and crop, combine and eventually come up with my composition. Much of my work in acrylics on canvas is realistic but I also often put in surrealism because I get lost in saturated colors, patterns, textures, form, contrasts...  I am thankful for all those experiences now that I'm older and can depend on them because it's more difficult to go out on new field trips now.
